Katveenkuuntelijat is Manuel Meri and Saara Vaisto – an artist couple who seek, create and offer places of beauty in time and in space.
At the core of our art are principles of bringing the hidden and invisible into vision. Making small things into whole worlds. Silence into sounds, unconscious into dance. Saying things that can only be said without words. Our aim is to offer moments of beauty which we consider to be a timeless, ageless need for humans to experience. We consider art as a channel to bring forth something transcendetal yet very much in the flesh. Something of eternal spirit yet constituent of humans living in the present moment.
Katveenkuuntelijat combine picturesque sound art with butoh influenced – although definition defying – dance. Their creative process is guided by poetry, channelled into wholeness of movement, sounds and visual harmony. Creating from darkness into the light.
Katveenkuuntelijat have performed in theatre spaces as well as in concert halls, in alternative art venues to environmental art events. Their pieces are always molded to fit the current space. Performances often times also include video art, if the space allows it.
Katveenkuuntelijat offer flowing music with dance of the hidden / invisible. They bring depths into vision. If You have an event in the need for poetic atmosphere and a space for performative art that tickles the layers of unconsciousness – take a peek into unknown and send us a message!
